Compliance Engineer

We have developed a unique production process that uses microwave plasma to extract a physical carbon powder called graphene from natural gas which helps decarbonise industry. We call this product LOOP. During 2024 we will be scaling up the manufacturing of LOOP and will be delivering several projects for UK and international customers.

Based in Cambridge, this role has responsibility for compliance of Levidian’s LOOP products. Working on products for multiple geographies, this role would suit a mechanical, chemical or process engineer with a focus on compliance.


 

Responsibilities

Working closely with Engineering, Procurement, Project Management and Manufacturing teams, you will join a dynamic and rapidly growing business.

  • Ownership of compliance requirements for LOOP products.

  • Working with engineering, projects and manufacturing teams to ensure compliance is embedded in LOOP design and manufacture.

  • Support for of inspection, reviews and other activities needed to demonstrate compliance.

  • Working with engineering and safety teams to ensure that compliance translates into safe products.

  • Management of changing compliance requirements across different territories and geographies.

  • Ownership of technical files and machinery risk assessments.


Candidate Requirements

You have experience working as a compliance focussed engineer in a similar industry (machinery, energy, manufacturing, oil and gas, etc):

You will be able to demonstrate:

  • Understanding of requirements for CE Marking to Machinery Directive.

  • Translation of compliance requirements from standards into specifications and practical application.

  • Familiarity with process, mechanical and electrical systems.

  • Pragmatic approach which prioritises safety, delivers compliance but also promotes growth of the business and rapid adoption of improved products.

  • Strong communication skills which you can adapt to be effective with clients, suppliers and Levidian teams.

  • Strong commitment to safety.

  • Good IT literacy.

Experience of some of the following would be advantageous:

  • Experience of compliance regimes outside of Europe such as UL or CSA.

  • Work with notified bodies, particularly around pressure systems.

  • Experience with functional safety, HAZOP or similar systems.

Education and qualifications

  • Degree qualified in engineering or HNC/HND with equivalent work experience.

  • Member of a relevant professional institution, either chartered or working towards chartership.


Location and travel requirements

This role is based at our Technology Centre in Cambridge. We take a very flexible approach to hours and understand you probably have responsibilities outside of work. Let us know how we can work together to accommodate them.

We don’t expect much travel being required, other than the occasional meeting and/or event.
