Levidian is proud to be sending a delegation to Dubai for COP28 - a true sign of the pace and scale of our growth over the past two years.

On 1st November, we were delighted to announce our first international expansion with the establishment of a new base in Abu Dhabi. The announcement comes at a pivotal time, with the UAE a fast-growing hub for companies looking to play their part in the energy transition.

A key area of focus for COP28 will be on how to fast-track the move to clean energy sources in support of a major cut in greenhouse gas emissions before 2030. As part of this, more than 20 oil and gas producers are expected to commit to eliminating methane emissions and gas flaring, also by the end of the decade.

The need for technologies like ours has never been clearer or more urgent.

We are excited to be showcasing our solution to the international climate community and will be taking part in several events throughout the course of the first week. Please keep an eye on this page and on our social channels for updates – and do get in touch if you are looking for an expert speaker to join your event.

About Us

Levidian’s unique LOOP device offers a route to capture the carbon from waste gas from hard-to-abate industries while creating a new source of clean hydrogen and high-quality graphene.

Graphene is a wonder-material that can be used to significantly enhance the intrinsic characteristics of products in major global industries as far ranging as steel, batteries and petrochemicals.

Our Team

A snapshot of our team who will be in attendance at COP28.

John Hartley,

Chief Executive Officer

A passionate net zero advocate, John studied climate change and environmental economics at the University of Cambridge, before pursuing a career in energy and technology development. Prior to Levidian, John was Global Director of Product Management for Centrica, with accountability for bringing new, low-carbon technology to their global business customer base including EV enablement, demand response and battery storage.

Alex Holden,

Chief Operating Officer

An expert in climate change and environmental economics, Alex is leading the charge on our international growth, including a £25m Series A funding round, led by Baker Hughes in 2021. He is also the Levidian lead for Amazon Web Services’s (AWS) Clean Energy Accelerator 3.0, a high-pace, non-equity dilutive accelerator designed to facilitate collaborations with mature start-ups developing breakthrough clean energy technologies.

Ian Hopkins, Chief Commercial Officer

Ian has worked within the energy industry for over 20 years and has spent his career developing technical complex projects in the fields of energy efficiency and decarbonisation. Ian brings a unique mix of technical, operational, and business strategy experience, and, prior to joining Levidian, led Centrica’s energy solutions and environmental sales activity.

Ellie Galanis, Director of Commercial Development

With over 15 years’ experience in advanced materials development and commercialisation, Ellie is a materials scientist who has taken early-stage technologies and defined and directed successful commercialisation strategies. Ellie’s expertise in graphene is the driving force behind the commercialisation of our consistent and high-quality graphene produced by our LOOP network.

Our projects

How Levidian is working with customers and partners to deliver projects that will support global decarbonisation efforts.

Oil & Gas

We’re proud to be working with ADNOC and Baker Hughes as part of a strategic collaboration that aims to accelerate the development and commercialisation of technology solutions for hydrogen and graphene.

In a world first for the oil and gas industry, ADNOC will shortly be taking delivery of a LOOP20 demonstration that will be installed at one of ADNOC’s gas facilities and field-tested to capture carbon and create a new source of hydrogen and high-quality graphene. The graphene will then be evaluated and utilised for research on industrial applications in the UAE.

Water

We’re working with one of the UK’s leading water companies, United Utilities, on a pioneering project that will see biogas from wastewater treatment used as a fully sustainable feedstock to produce hydrogen and graphene.

The pilot LOOP will be capable of processing around 15 cubic meters of biogas per hour and will serve as a stepping stone towards larger installations, with the potential to roll out up to 47 commercial LOOP units at wastewater treatment sites across the North West of England.

Construction

Working in partnership with Luxembourg construction company Stugalux, we’re on a mission to transform biomethane produced from food and agricultural waste to create graphene that will be integrated into the building products used by Stugalux to improve performance and drive down the carbon footprint of new buildings.

Three LOOP systems will process nearly 250,000 cubic meters of waste gas per year, producing more than 30 tonnes of graphene that can be added to concrete to deliver a 30% reduction in CO2 emissions.
