Connect with us at Innovation Zero
Levidian will be at Innovation Zero, taking place at the Olympia London on 24th and 25th May.
Innovation Zero is a 2-day, free-to-attend, access-all-areas international cleantech congress that brings together 7,000 policymakers, innovators, funders and leaders from the public and private sector to gain the knowledge and tools needed to take action and make a difference.
Levidian will showcase how we can help industries to decarbonise via the Levidian LOOP. Our technology takes environmentally harmful waste methane and converts it into two useful products: hydrogen and graphene.
The hydrogen produced can be used immediately as a hydrogen rich gas blend for a variety of applications, allowing simplified decarbonisation of existing CHP assets. LOOP can also be delivered with integrated hydrogen separation, enabling pure hydrogen applications. The carbon is captured in the form of high-quality graphene and can then be utilised by a range of industries to further enhance decarbonisation and sustainability by creating longer-lasting products.
Levidian’s CEO John Hartley will be a speaker and discussion leader in one of Innovation Zero’s Decarbonising Working Groups, titled “Scaling Up: Unlocking Cement and Concrete Innovation and Deployment”.
John and fellow speakers will discuss the challenge of decarbonising concrete and how policy and regulation can support implementation, the future of materials and other innovations, and how cross-sector collaboration could drive demand and investment.
Graphene has long been touted as a route to decarbonising concrete by enhancing the strength and resistance to microcracking of the material, as well as enabling faster curing times. In early testing, we have demonstrated that Levidian G3 graphene added to mortar provides significant early strength (at 7 days, a 66% increase in compressive strength), as well as greatly enhanced 28 day strength (35% enhancement compared to the control formulation). This suggests that adding G3 graphene could enable an accelerated construction process. We are exploring how these properties might be used to reduce the amount of cement used in the concrete mix and therefore reduce the carbon footprint of the build.
Graphene could contribute to a lower carbon offering using sustainably produced graphene to deliver stronger and more durable concrete structures.

About Levidian
Founded in 2012, Levidian is a British climate tech business whose patented LOOP technology cracks methane into hydrogen and carbon, locking the carbon into high-quality green graphene. Our world-leading Technology Centre in Cambridge also offers R&D consultancy to companies in the development of graphene-enhanced products.
About Levidian graphene
Levidian graphene is a product of our patented LOOP system. The carbon produced via our process is locked into “atom-up” graphene with no batch-to-batch variation. Levidian graphene is primarily offered as a very few layer non-functionalised graphene (Levidian G3) and a dominated single layer non-functionalised graphene (Levidian G1) is also available. Our graphene products are sustainable and, when produced using waste gas, carbon negative. The Levidian Applied Technologies team can assist customers in developing dispersions and applications to meet specific needs.
