Levidian decarbonisation solution awarded Statement of Feasibility by DNV
Certification confirms technical feasibility for Levidian’s modular LOOP device
Levidian has been awarded a Statement of Feasibility by the independent energy expert and assurance provider, DNV, confirming the technical feasibility of its LOOP technology.
The endorsement follows a Qualification Basis and Technology Assessment Review of the company’s LOOP devices, which have been designed to operate as a self-contained modular system that can quickly and easily be retrofitted to existing infrastructure.
The LOOP system forms part of Levidian’s unique decarbonisation solution, capturing the carbon from methane gas and creating a new source of clean hydrogen and net zero graphene - a high performance material that can be used to significantly enhance the intrinsic characteristics of products in major global industries as far ranging as steel, batteries, and petrochemicals.
Levidian’s Chief Technology Officer, Alistair Donaldson said: “The last 18 months have been an incredible journey. We already have 10 LOOPs of various sizes in the field or under construction and are now working to develop our biggest ever unit, the LOOP1000, which will deliver industrial-scale levels of decarbonisation.
“We’re on a critical mission to decarbonise some of the hardest-to-abate sectors on the planet and are proud to have received this certification from DNV. It provides a valuable independent confirmation of our technology readiness as we continue to optimise and scale our offer.”
Levidian already holds a global portfolio of 52 patents across 40 countries and has a patent pending for its modular LOOP system on which the LOOP10 – LOOP1000 units are based.
The DNV-RP-A203 qualification framework provides a systematic approach to documenting the technology and managing qualification at any stage of the development life cycle. This risk-based approach ensures unknown risks are solved before deployment, where failure would have significant reputational and financial cost.
