Levidian to showcase groundbreaking technology at Goodwood Festival of Speed

  • Leading UK climate tech business will exhibit as part of the Future Lab

  • Patented technology provides a steady stream of clean hydrogen and high-quality graphene

  • Graphene speeds up charging by up to a third and can increase battery lifespan by 27%

  • The advanced material also strengthens tyres and reduces particle pollution

Levidian, a UK climate tech company, will be displaying its LOOP technology at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on 11th-14th July. Exhibiting as part of the Future Lab, Levidian’s patented technology has the potential to dramatically improve consumers’ electrical vehicle (EV) experience, delivering a new generation of cars that are lighter and more environmentally friendly.

Levidian’s LOOP captures the carbon from potent greenhouse gas methane, from sources such as wastewater treatment plants and farm waste, converting it into clean hydrogen and high-quality graphene – the thinnest and strongest material ever discovered.

The graphene is a high-value additive that can deliver a 20% increase in the energy density of EV batteries, allowing for lighter, smaller battery packs. It has also been shown to speed up charging by up to 30%, shaving at least an hour off the average home charging time of a mid-range EV*.

Research by Levidian earlier this year showed positive results in the search for a solution to combating environmental issues associated with tyre wear in electric vehicles while also delivering improvements in rolling resistance and vehicle range.

As a lack of consumer confidence continues to prove a barrier to the widespread uptake of EVs**, a consistent supply of high-quality graphene has the potential to be a significant part of the solution.

John Hartley, Levidian CEO said: “We are delighted to be heading to the Goodwood Festival of Speed. EVs are critical to a successful energy transition and we’re confident that our technology can play a significant role in speeding that journey. Batteries that charge faster and last longer could be just the boost to consumer confidence that the industry needs.”

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is an annual motorsports festival featuring modern and historic motor racing vehicles taking part in a hill climb and other events, held in the parkland surrounding Goodwood House in West Sussex.
